Independent Grenfell Recovery Taskforce
The government set up the Independent Grenfell Recovery Taskforce as a non-statutory intervention to make sure that Kensington and Chelsea Council was able to deal with the long-term recovery from the Grenfell Tower tragedy.
The Independent Grenfell Recovery Taskforce provided this external support and challenge to the council and assurance to the Secretary of State up until March 2020. After the publication of the Taskforce’s final report, the then Prime Minister appointed an independent adviser on Grenfell to make sure the views of those affected by the Grenfell Tower tragedy continue to be heard across government.
Read the Taskforce reports and statements and letters associated with them.
As is general practice with interventions the council meets the cost of the fees and expenses of the taskforce. These costs (to date) are as follows:
Year | Cost |
---|---|
2017/18 | £55,069.15 |
2018/19 | £133,983.96 |
2019/20 | £139,472.64 |
