Across London, the tragic news that a teenager has lost their life from knife crime or violence is sadly too frequent and is devastating for many. We know that communities in Kensington and Chelsea are very concerned about this and therefore the solutions lie in close collaboration between them, the Council, police, partners and those directly affected themselves.
That’s why we’re inviting young people and carers /parents to come along to this event so together we can protect children and young people from criminal or sexual exploitation and from being drawn into gang activity and serious violence. The event is organised by the Council’s Community Safety team and the police.
At this event, there will be:
- A space to hear from residents and those directly affected by youth violence and exploitation.
- Information and advice from the Council’s Community Safety Team, local specialist services and the police
- An opportunity for residents, young people and services to share ideas about how to prevent and respond to these issues. This will include a discussion panel hosted by an professional speaker with audience participation.
- A focus on young peoples voices to discuss the risks of violence, how to live safely and be supported by services we have available in RBKC.
- ‘It takes a village’ Football match involving young people and services including the Police. The match will be held at the Rugby Portobello Trust.
You can read more information online about the local Youth Violence and Exploitation Strategy as well as online guide for parents.
