Lone working

The term working alone applies to those who work by themselves without any direct or close supervision. This could apply to individuals working in an isolated part of a building away from other employees, or to mobile employees who work alone a number of different locations. Employers must carry out risk assessments of their loan workers and put suitable control measures in place.

Employers have to ensure that they comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999 and the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases, and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995.
