What we collect

Household waste

We will collect any reasonable amount of routine domestic waste from residential properties such as:

  • kitchen waste
  • non-recyclable food packaging
  • foil
  • rubbish generated through normal day-to-day life

We will not collect:

  • furniture
  • white goods
  • paint
  • oil
  • carpets
  • wood
  • electrical appliances unless they can fit in a normal size dustbin or black bag
  • builders' waste

When you put your rubbish out, remember our waste minimisation and recycling policies.

If we can't take all your rubbish from the rubbish storage area, we may need to collect on your next collection day.

Garden waste

Garden waste is collected by our garden waste crew. You need to register in advance to use this service.

Bulky household waste

If you have larger household items that you want to throw away, our Too Big for the Bin service can help.

Read about Too Big for the Bin.

You can also use our amenity skips.

Read more about our waste and recycling centre, dropping off waste, and how you can reduce, reuse and recycle at Western Riverside Waste Authority.

Local charity shops and community organisations can reuse good quality furniture and household goods. This helps both local people and the environment.

Some organisations may be able to collect from your home for free, like the British Heart Foundation. You can also advertise and exchange items in Kensington and Chelsea, free of charge with the charity Freegle.
