ASSIST (Autism Support Signposting Information Services Team)

About the service

ASSIST provides free support for adults on the autism spectrum. It is intended for residents aged 18 and over, in Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster, who have or who are actively seeking a diagnosis of autism.

ASSIST offer one to one appointments as well as group meetings.

Appointments: One to one appointments providing an opportunity to talk about and find ways of managing a wide range of issues- these might include employment, education, housing, coping strategies, physical and mental wellbeing, domestic skills and welfare.

Groups: There are weekly and monthly groups for people to develop their social networks and friendship groups. These groups include social activities, information seminars, museum trips, board games, gardening music and more.

Community: They deliver autism awareness classes for professional organisations which can help promote autism awareness in the community.

How to access the service

To receive support from ASSIST you need to:

  • have a diagnosis, or be seeking a diagnosis of Asperger syndrome or high functioning autism
  • live in either Westminster and Kensington and Chelsea
  • not eligible to receive adult social care support

You can access this service by appointment. Appointments can take place in a variety of locations such as the centre in Ladbroke Grove, coffee shops, libraries and they also can visit people at home.
